When you enter a new region, there is a cost jump in the energy required for digging tiles. Even the tile cost of segmented events will increase. This guide is designed to help you overcome that and even out into your new region.

If you're reading this just after entering a new region, you can skip this. But if you haven't, it might be better to stay back and build your camp little stronger for next region.
Do the side quests if you skipped them, dig up the remaining tiles and work towards the hero of region achievement or go for older stories. However if you already have done all of that, then you probably have your camp strong enough to enter next region.
However if you're just too curious to find what the next region has, take the plunge and use the tips ahead.
Carts are the first things to buy in any new region, if you've unlocked them. You may not have enough resources as soon as you enter but in a few days, you will. Aim for material boxes in events. But for now, get the gem cart of the region which unlocks fairly early and most likely will be available to buy. It's worth the gems.
Apart from that, lookup the shop for any newly unlocked equipment that you can buy and is significantly above your current one.
You should always buy the equipments that need the least amount of event items in your next few events after entering a new region. This way you can buy multiple of them and each one is significantly above your current equipments so it gives you the much needed boost at the start of region.
Opt for regeneration equipments from event shop, the storage requirements are generally fulfilled by the carts as suggested above.
If you have a lot of time to play and the energy cost in new region isn't allowing you to play, you could buy some older vintage events if you have the gems, especially if you are in China or below regions since the equipment won't be good for higher regions. These stories have fixed tile cost which is generally low hence allowing you to play as long as you want (not for Egyptians, though, but they can still benefit from the great equipments).
If you are in China however, there are only a select few you should opt for which will have equipment that can be useful for you, here are a few of them: Christmas 2015, Detective Stories 2, Little Mermaid, Independance Day 2, Easter 2016. (Also check: Best events to buy during 100 gem sale)
For Atlantis and higher regions, you can opt for segmented events instead if you have the gems which will give you little more play time and some equipments for a little boost.
First note, pillars are only available in portal/facebook versions, not on mobile. But even if you play on mobile, you can load the desktop version from mobile browser and login with the same credentials.
Check out the shop, decorations section, filter for pillars. Lookup if you have any excess materials from the regions you left behind. Buying pillars will level you up quickly and might give a great energy boost when you have the time to play.
